I find great joy in doing whimsical, colorful paintings that make me smile. The pastel medium has added a special dimension to my retirement. If anything I produce brings enjoyment to others, that is an additional bonus.
I have been surrounded by art since birth, as both of my parents were artists. They studied art in Paris in the 1920s. There were always art materials in our home, and encouragement to draw, paint and experiment. I drew and painted throughout my childhood with basic instruction from my mother. Through my working years, my creative urges were satisfied by doing merchandise display in my gift shop, The Beach House, which I owned in Lincoln City, OR from 1972 until 1997. After I sold the gift shop, I dealt in antiques, continuing with my focus on display. Now, in retirement, I have gone back to my original love of painting and drawing.
