Raku Pottery

I have been creating my necessary luxuries in clay for 40 years. I make both functional and artistic pieces. My processes include raku pottery which is a low temperature firing of porous clay. The method involves extracting pieces from a kiln while they are glowing hot and placing them in an oxygen reduction container which results in brilliant, varied and colorful pieces. I develop my own glazes so the pieces are ever-changing and unique. I also use a different technique involving horse hair on a raku piece to create a work that is white with black line patterns.
