I use the encaustic medium to paint nature and abstractions of nature, and am fascinated by the line where water meets land. I love seeking natural elements to complement my art. I also find symmetry and line work very appealing and use the encaustic medium to satisfy this side of my brain. My hope is that the works of art I create take people to a peaceful and harmonious place.
I graduated from art school in Arkansas in 1990, focused on printmaking. I have a very eclectic background in art and have done experimentation in various media. I settled on watercolor until a friend introduced me to encaustic painting in 2011. I was instantly hooked. I live in McMinnville, Oregon with my lovely British-born, very talented artist wife, Julia and my two incredible sons, Alex and Ben. I exhibit my work in juried art shows and festivals as well as Current’s Gallery and the Riversea Gallery in Astoria, Oregon.
