Shawn Rothman

Jewelry

I'm a mad scientist of sorts, and love experimenting. The result is art jewelry that is unusual, unexpected and completely unique. Each piece tells its own story of different eras, mediums, architecture and passion. Each new learning experience ignites inspiration and turns up the heat on my need to create original, whimsical, single edition art jewelry.

In previous lives, I was a sailor, a Deputy District Attorney, a dancer and a traveler. In 2006 I discovered my true passion – metal, hammers and fire. There is something about working with metal and fire that suggests I have a pyromaniac floating somewhere in my gene pool. I am never as focused and transported as I am when I have torch or hammer in hand, forging an idea into life in the form of wearable art jewelry. Since 2006 I have had the privilege of learning from some of the top names in metalwork and jewelry design across the country, and have been privileged to study both at Oregon College of Art & Craft and at Rio Grande in Albuquerque, New Mexico. I have exhibited in numerous art shows, including Gathering of the Guilds each spring in Portland, Oregon, and in Best of the Northwest in Seattle, Washington. I reside in the Pacific Northwest with my woodworker husband and two Boston Terriers. My studio is my haven and the center of my creative universe–always.
