Oil and Watercolor Paintings
When young, I was drawn to Nature, spending time in the forests, lakes and streams of the Upper Great Lakes Region. I enjoy observing, capturing, composing and inscribing nature's infinite variety in my memory; appreciating the long shadows of early morning or late afternoon stretch across the Earth, the light and shade, the cools and the warms of color contrast. This is why I paint.
As a young man, I attended the Heatherley School of Fine Art in London, England. Drawing the human figure and studying artistic anatomy during those 3-1/2 years taught me how observe. In 1981 I moved to Cornwall and spent the next 23 years supporting painting. In 1994, I was included in the British “Who’s Who in Art”. I have been regularly accepted into the exhibitions of the Royal Society of Marine Artists (RSMA) at the Mall Galleries in London. In 1999 I received, the “St. Cuthbert’s Mill Award,” for the best work on paper. In 2004 I moved to Oregon. By 2007 I began to paint and draw the Pacific Northwest, while also continuing to paint for Galleries in England.
