Welcome to my exciting world in which I feel privileged to have the time, the means and the opportunity “to make art” and to share it with others. Painting has changed my life. My senses continue to sharpen, heighten, and deepen. Being acutely aware of shape, color, and composition, the unusual, and the ordinary life being lived, I see possibilities for paintings everywhere .
Upon retirement from teaching in 1990, the first thing I did was sign up for a watercolor class and I have been painting ever since. My paintings reflect my broad range of interests from the whimsical to the serious, including figurative work, landscapes, still-life, primitive art, animals, fantasy and florals. I use a variety of materials and techniques based on my strong interest in design, color, value contrast, texture, pattern, movement, rhythm, and in story-telling. Although primarily a watercolorist, I have worked with other water media, dry media and collage. I try to paint in a series, but allow myself to enjoy painting what I am inspired by. I relish the challenge of solving compositional problems which I equate to solving a puzzle.
