Bring your own acrylic brushes and any personal collage materials you would like to include. 

251025 - Immerse yourself in discovering the beauty of watercolor and its luminous glow. Step-by-step, you'll explore the wet-in-wet method to create the transparent glow of our subject -- grapes. Bring your subject to life by crafting the illusion of light on surrounding leaves with a grisaille underpainting, then wash in glowing yellow and green. Finish with the magical technique of wispy spider webs, adding a final touch of magic.

 251105 - Beginners Class - Chicken Scratch is a variant of cross-stitch that was popular during the 1930-40s and is most often worked with white thread on checked gingham fabric. Learn the simple counted stitches and create a Snowflake, suitable for an ornament or small wall hanging. Chicken scratch was often used for bread covers, table runners and aprons…still useful and gift ideas!

251108 - Create a unique art piece using your own photo for inspiration! No painting experience required. Starting with an ink drawing and finishing with acrylic paint, create a unique little scene/portrait backed with decorative papers as a special gift or personal memento.

251109 - This class uses flowers, plants, fruits, vegetables and other ephemera to naturally dye silk scarves.  All supplies are included.  Note: steaming scarves takes 1-1/2 - 2 hours, so you'll need to return to pick up your TWO BEAUTIFUL SCARVES! 

251115 - Transform how you see & paint by concentrating on values. You will be provided a fog photo, values reference scale, tree practice sheet and step-by-step handouts. After painting a reference value scale you'll learn to paint layers of trees.  You'll focus on values by glazing with multiple watercolor layers of Paynes Gray to practice creating your misty fog . Lift out wispy fog in the hills, trees and shoreline. Then glaze more layers of water ripples to complete your painting. Please join in on the fun!

260114 - Beginner to Advanced - Popular in Scandinavian communities, explore this aesthetic form of embroidery traditionally used in clothing and table linens. Hardanger is a counted stitch, worked in geometric ‘klosters’ blocks which include open spaces. Create a HEART pincushion, pendant or card using Aida fabric and 2 sizes of perle cotton thread.

260108 - This workshop offers a basic introduction to mosaic.  Discussion includes design theory on pattern, flow and placement, and an overview of substrates, adhesives and materials appropriate for mosaic art. The project will be craft-level  for interior use only, and can be used as a trivet or wall hanging.  It takes 2 days to fill a design with tiles. Grouting can’t take place for at least one more day, ideally 4-5 days for good adhesion. The instructor will demonstrate and send students home with dry grout.  A video tutorial link will be provided for grouting at home along with written instructions.

 + $100 for Basic Printing Kit

260207 - Moku Hanga -Learn the skills to successfully produce a multi-colored print. Carve on Shina (Japanese plywood), spread ink with a special, stiff printing brush and print on washi with a baren, the Japanese hand-held printing tool. Students will be given a basic printmaking kit to take home including a quality u-gouge and v-gouge, printing brush and baren. If you already own these supplies, you can return them for store credit at McClain’s Printmaking Supplies. Printmaking supplies will also be available for purchase during class. All levels 18 years old and older are welcome.

260211 - For Beginners  - Traditional Hispanic New Mexican embroidery using crewel wool yarns on homespun cotton fabric. Historical examples were created with indigo blue and local vegetable dyed wool threads on hand woven cotton cloth which imitated expensive, imported silk fabrics. Common motifs are reminiscent of Talavera tiles, all created with a simple laid stitch. Create a Colcha stitched pincushion and vicariously escape to the sunny Land of Enchantment.
