I paint in an abstract expressionist style, and intuitively use layers of color to build depth and texture. Each mark I make adds vibrancy and life to the composition. My goal is to create a piece that resonates with others—one that invites personal interpretation, where viewers can connect with a specific time, place, or memory of their own.
I have been creating art since a very young age, learning and developing skills that I use daily. I have worked with both the hot wax (encaustic) and cold wax mediums since 2006 while more recently with acrylic and mixed media. I lived in the Hillsboro area for twenty years before moving to Alaska in 2005 where I became involved in the local art community serving as Vice President, and then, President of the Alaska Chapter of International Encaustic Artists. I served more than eight years on the board of International Encaustic Artists. I ran my own business, grew my art practice and began teaching in my studio where local artists displayed art, creative groups held monthly meetings, and classes and workshops were held.
I moved to Gales Creek, Oregon in November 2018 and, became involved with the local arts community. I currently serve as President and Education Director at Valley Arts Assoc. In addition to privately commissioned works, I have participated in nationally and internationally juried art shows. My paintings hang in many private, public and corporate collections around the world.
