Plein Air Acrylic Paintings

When I paint, I am absorbed into the process, time is weightless, and my mind is engaged in the now. I work freely and intuitively in the moment, leaving behind angst to just enjoy the creative journey. Painting, particularly en Plein Air, makes me feel alive and happy. The use of color that dances, and bold brush strokes have long identified my work. My subjects vary from landscapes to architecture. I’m attracted to compositions of light, shadow and shapes. I am forever inspired by the French Impressionists for forging a new way, as well as the work from the Early California Impressionist Movement. I was Born in Mt Angel, OR, to a family that fostered a creative environment. Art, music and drawing were second nature to me from an early age. While raising my family I continued as a working artist, using my talent to design and paint theater sets for Springfield High School Drama Dept., as well as for Discovery Maps International, designing and creating artistic tourist maps for cities nationwide. I studied under several nationally known artists such as: Ned Mueller, Eric Weigardt, and others. I paint and exhibit in the wineries and galleries throughout the Willamette Valley. My work has been juried into countless local and national shows, recently garnering the Chehalem Cultural Center award at Newberg’s Willamette Valley Lavender Festival Paintout contest, 2021.
